Lowrie, Jed OAK - Jed Lowrie is hoping to return to the starting lineup for Friday's game after sitting out Wednesday's series finale against the Rangers due to a bruised right foot. Lowrie initially suffered the injury Tuesday night when he was hit on the foot by a Yu Darvish pitch in the fifth inning. Serving as the club's designated hitter in that contest, Lowrie was later lifted for a pinch-hitter prior to his next at-bat, though X-rays came back negative. In 45 games this season, Lowrie is hitting .301 with three homers and 21 RBIs.

Ross, David BOS - Boston catcher David Ross is expected to be activated from the concussion disabled list on Friday after having a strong rehab outing on Thursday. He had an RBI double and caught five innings for Franklin Morales during Double-A Portland's 8-4 win. "He'll get examined tonight and probably tomorrow when he comes in and at that point we have the ability to make a roster decision tomorrow," Red Sox manager John Farrell said before Thursday's game against the Indians.

Cubs - Chang-Yong Lim -P - According to a report from the Yonhap News Agency, Chang-Yong Lim is eyeing a return to action later this summer. Lim signed a two-year minor league contract with the Cubs last December and he has been rehabbing at the Cubs’ facility in Mesa. Lim had his second Tommy John surgery in July of 2012. Reports suggested when Lim signed that he could be ready to pitch late this season. At the time the Cubs were targeting for him to be ready to pitch in 2014.
