BM ranks pitching much higher than conventional draft thinking-does that make sense?

Seems like all of the fantasy pundits all say not to spend one of your top picks on SP because SP's have a MUCH higher chance of getting hurt. Most people follow this strategy if you look at ESPN ADP for example. ESPN ranking that appears in their live snake draft tool also favors hitting. The theory makes sense to me, but the problem is BM ranks them VERY high (11 out of first 24 picks in my R, HR, RBI, OBP, SB, E x W, S, ERA, WHIP, K league) and those makes it harder to use BM for drafting.

2 questions - what do you more experienced fantasy players think of following the crowd in this strategy and to the BM people is there any easy way I can adjust all SP values downward (maybe by allowing users to adjust positional adjustment) for my draft which happens in 24 hours?

You can adjust weights for any category you want via your League Settings. So if you weight W at 0.5, for example, it will weight that category half as much as every other category when calculating ranks. You can play with those a bit until the rankings look like something you are more comfortable with. I'd also suggest selecting ADP for a display column so you can see where the consensus is taking players.
