I'm curious how people use their bench spots in daily H2H baseball leagues. I have sort of always done this on auto-pilot, without much thought to maximizing use and production from the spots, but as I learn and think more about daily leagues and relative player values on varying days based on matchup, etc, I wonder if there are smarter things that can be done. My league has 11 starting batters (one per position plus 3 Utility) and 6 starting pitchers (3 SP, 1 RP, 2 P), and 6 bench slots. Historically I've used 3 slots for batters, trying as much as possible to have a backup at each position to fill in on off days, and 3 spots which are almost always dedicated to starting pitchers so I can get their starts. I use the two "P" spots for relievers to collect Saves and Holds. But I wonder is this really the best way to do it....generally my backup hitters are only playing when the starter has an off day and the backup plays (1-2 times per week max). Would it make more sense to, for example, use a spot for a fourth reliever to move in and out to try to get holds and saves and a smattering of strikeouts? What about using batters who are better only in certain situations / matchups? How do others use their bench spots in a H2H daily league? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
