Does anyone have a good resource/website and/or formula for valuing picks when trading up and down in a draft?

There used to be a decent draft pick trade calculator on KFFL.com, but that's no longer around.  There are a handful of others I've come across that aren't very useful.

I'm in a 16 team snail draft and there is a lot of draft pick trading and it can be hard to make sure I'm getting the right value for a pick.

What I do is see the typical z-score value at the picks and add them together to see if they are close.  It's not perfect but better than guessing.

The problem I have is that RP's completely throw everything off for me.  I'm in a league where holds are counted as a stat so they dominate the top z scores and there's a million of them.  I can't necessary just hide them either, because of the closers.

Plus, it's not apples to oranges.  A lot of time the guy with the highest z-score is not the guy that is going to get drafted next, or maybe even in the next round (which is the beauty of this site).  So that's when I look to trade back, and I need to fall back on basic pick value principles for value, and then use z-scores to squeeze extra value out of that trade.

IMO...

If you are not getting such an obvious advantage from a draft pick trade that you have to investigate it this closely... I wouldn't bother making the trade in the first place.  You are more likely to screw yourself up by improperly valuing the deal than you are to "lose out" by not making it at all.

I dunno, I guess in my opinion there are a lot of good reasons to trade up/back in a draft.  I'm just looking for the best way to do it.  It's sort of a necessity in the particular league I am in, so I'm just trying to come up with some basic principles and was wondering if anyone had already come up with/across something, that's all.

Yeah, i definitely understand that some leagues require strange tactics.  I'm merely suggesting that if you have to look that long and hard to find your "advantage", you might not be spending that time too wisely. ;)  Aim higher, let them counter.
