Keeper opinion please

I'm in a NL only auction league.  We are allowed to keep up to 4 players.  Also, you are alowed to keep a guy if he was on your roster at the end of the year and he switched leagues in the off season.

Thoughts on keeping Melky Cabrera at $17?  My other choice is John Jay at $6.  My other keepers are McCutchen ($12), Bumgardner ($10), LaRoche ($6)

I'd love to hear some opinions.

It's certainly not a good price relative to your other keepers. What are your anticipated options if you don't keep him (or Jay)?

I would keep Melky. If u don't he falls out of the pool options for anybody. Keeping a guy who would ordinarily not be useable will benefit u and ur league. So do ALL the Astro owners get to keep all their owned guys?

Thanks for the feedback guys.  My other keepers are some of the best in the league.  Yes, all Astros are eligible.

I made one critical error drafting that I won't make next year in an NL only league...try not to keep or pay up for outfielders.  So many options when compared to very limited choices in the infield.  It was a rookie mistake.  Good OF players were going really cheap at the end because everyone was all set.

Auctions are tricky and experience really helps. That's one format in which I need to get more repetitions myself.
