Hi,

I'm new to Baseball monster (Had basketball monster previously) and I'm a beginner in baseball and learning how to navigate all the spreadsheet items. A couple questions:

1. Where can I find what each category means? ISO, wOBA/ISO, etc. I didn't see a tutorial on that.

2. Which category would you say is most important to look at when selecting one player over the other? I tried to pick players who were projected the highest with good ratios and they didn't do so hot. I know it's baseball and could be unpredictable at times but I want to know which other factors you guys look at when making a decision about picking players.

Thanks a lot.

Here's some links describing the stats: wOBA and ISO.

As far as picking hitters, I will check the Ratio along with the wOBA and ISO values (higher the better for hitters). As of today, we allow selecting a date range for these, and I plan to start with 2 years. I also look at recent performance and tend to favor the hot players.

stylerip, I've had real good success just focusing in on the woba stat and recent history. I avoid guys who haven't done anything in recent history, previous 5-10 games. My problem is picking the right pitcher.

I usually don't try to be cute and instead pick the top pitchers who are projected to do really well. Have no issues with pitching. It's finding the low owned hitter who will do well is the issue for me.

Don't be scared to scroll down 2/3rds of the projects on the OF's and select a guy who has a +.370 wOBA and a recent average of +1.5 points. Theres usually a couple $2200-2300 (FD) guys who step up and get a few hits or a HR. Of course its hit or miss, but I feel pretty good about my hitters most of the time with this method. As for low ownership, these guys are usually lightly owned.

For DFS, how do you guys treat the <= 3 remaining?  It worked for me when I started and then it gave me a couple of players who weren't starting at the last minute and roh roh.
