Need help with daily picks

I am not doing very well with my daily picks or my fan duel  can you give me any advice on how to pick players better?

So for cash games I would recommend starting to build your lineup by paying up for a pitcher. Try to find a pitcher that is consistent and one of the larger favorites for the night. Tonight was a difficult night to pick a starter for cash games because the nationals were the largest favorites, but Gio can be erratic. So on a night like tonight I usually would take off from playing cash games. How do you usually go about selecting a pitcher

I appreciate the response first of all I typically do a lot of reading on how they have pitched against that team in the past and over the last three games. However picking the other players I seem to fair ok but I am not sure how others are doing so well picking their players who are bringing in a lot more points I think with baseball monster we have good statistics?

I like to get the betting line to see which team is favored to win and assuming that pitcher will win.  If you play Yahoo, it counts higher when your pitcher wins.
