What does it mean when the lineup optimizer isn't optimizing?

I had two different lineups today and got the following optimized picks...

Lineup 1: Javier Baez, Josh Harrison, Kris Bryant

Lineup 2: Josh Donaldson, Odubel Herrera, Jason Bourgeois

I think I got less than five points out of these guys.  The contests aren't over and I'm scoring 112 points while the leader has 161 so it's not that bad.  If one of these guys would produce, then I would be in the money.

It's been like this for almost six or seven different days now and I have not finished in the money.  I've never experienced a cold streak like this.

I took David Price and Nathan Eovaldi as SP.

Does the optimizer give you players from a team it thinks will win?

Does it take into consideration which team's players you have in your lineup already?

The optimizer simply plugs in the best dollar value players into your remaining roster spots based on position needs. So if you're looking for one player and have $4,000 budget available, it will find the highest projected value player $4,000 or less.
