I noticed today that for the 7pm slate, virtually all of the hitters had negative matchup factors?  The very most positive matchups would be like +0.12

meanwhile the CLE hitters facing the CIN pitcher today - that pitcher was very poorly rated, no?  CLE hitters all had their OPP and PARK highlighted a strong gree, and then would have matchup factors of, say, -1.19 or something ...

Why are these hitters still losing points?  Relative to what?  I understand the shading is relative, but fact is, we would want to project the cleveland hitters to perform ABOVE their base rate against this CIN pitcher tonight, in CIN's ballpark, etc., why are they getting points taken away in the factors?

I'll give this a look since those that seem to be getting a boost are not showing significant Factor boosts.

I made this post about a specific day where there seemed to be a systematic off-centering

But like today I noticed ... all of the LAD players had negative matchup factors?  Against a minor league pitcher from CIN?

Also Harper had a STRONGLY negative matchup factor.  And I know the system doesn't factor in BVP.  Is Harvey's projection still that high?  I saw the same thing yesterday with Bartolo Colon.  Are they rated that highly or what's going on there?  I'd think they'd either both be rated mediocre or Harvey would be rated well still and Colon mediocre.  But.  They both seem to be strong opponents in the system?

Just curious.  I mean I know LAD is a pitcher's park.  But.  Still that is a REALLY bad starter they're facing, no?

The LAD hitters are pretty good bargains today based on their matchup (good ratios), but the Factor difference is a little misleading.  The factor is showing the difference between the base and the end result, but part of that calculation likely needs to be included in the base too.  I'll give it a closer look.
