Updated L/R Advanced Stats

  • wOBA and ISO of opposing hitters added for pitchers.  Previously, you could only view the pitcher wOBA vs the opposing hitters.
  • K% added for player and opponent.
  • Past Days range added so you can view past # days rather than full 2016.
  • New L/R display column showing the number of plate appearances or batters faced used in the L/R analysis.
  • Stats go back four season so Career has been replaced by 2013-16.
  • Opponent hitter stats now weighed by projected plate appearances.

Thanks Ken - just a heads up - the new K% data doesn't export using the 'Export to Excel' button.  The fields are there but they are all blank.

Thanks for the update fellas

I'm having a tough time understand the difference between the SP wOBA and ISO numbers now... The terminology in the descriptions seems like the same thing to me...

wOBA = The wOBA of the SP vs the Opponent lineup L/R
wOBAh = L/R wOBA of the Opposing Starting Lineup

ISO = the ISO of the Hitter vs the SP L/R
ISOh = the L/R ISO of the opposing starting lineup

I'm not understanding how and why these are different?

Can you elaborate a little?

For pitchers:

wOBA is based on the pitcher's wOBA so if they have a 0.300 wOBA vs. righties, and they are facing 8 righties, this will be 0.300 (regardless of how good the hitters are).

wOBAh is based on the opposing starting lineup so if the hitters the pitcher is facing average a wOBA of 0.250, it'll show 0.250 (regardless of how good the pitcher is).  The actual wOBAh will be weighed by the projected PA for the opposing hitters.

Does this explain it?

KSlight, he is referring to the ISO column and how it is worded when compared to how the wOBA columns are worded.

To better illustrate this, on the pitchers tab, when you hover over the wOBA column, it clearly says the PITCHERS wOBA vs the starting lineup they are facing whereas the ISO column says the ISO of the HITTERS vs the PITCHER THEY ARE FACING. When you hover over the ISOh column, it is worded as if it were going to display the same information that's in the ISO column, but it doesn't.

The question here is if the ISO column displays the ISO of the STARTING PITCHER vs the LINEUP THEY ARE FACING (same as the wOBA column)?

Does this make sense?

Also, I noticed that the color coordination on the pitchers column of the K% is off. For instance, Madison Bumgarner's K% of 26.6% is among the highest of the day but it is colored red. Shouldn't it be green? The same applies for the K% of the hitters. Shouldn't it be the higher it gets the greener the color should be?

OK thanks, and I'll take a look at the descriptions.  For K%, hitters should be red if higher and for pitchers green.  I'll change the pitcher coloring.
