Hi, I would like to understand why hitters facing Perez today are listed as having an opponent pitcher with a red-shaded OPP under the Factors column. Perez is horrible, no matter how you slice it. Please explain! Thanks 0% Agree (0 votes) |
He would seem to be pretty bad, but his hits allowed and hr-allowed are better than average. He doesn't strikeout too many which doesn't help. For today, TEX is favored to win, and OAK is projected at 4.3 runs which is close to average. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Are you open to looking beyond things like hits/homers allowed when it comes to pitching projections? Both of those are silly small sample data points that aren't very reliable for projecting future results. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
We're looking at may inputs for the projections, but hit and hr-rates are part of that. Those are the two pushing the factors slightly less than average. Perez is the 15th best pitcher today so we're certainly not high on him, and overall, OAK hitters have positive factors facing him today. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
