An early look at things, the site UI looks really nice this year, but I noticed at this point there are some missing features.  Could use :

  • Export the projections and ranking.
    • Can copy and paste lines but then you have to manually remove the headings and other formatting issues
  • Comparison column for different stats
    • This has always been there and is very handy (one can be total, another can be per game, or projection, full season, etc.)
  • Import using Baseball Monster custom columns with player ID's.  The instructions and csv link are gone.
    • Maybe it still works?  I could try it to see
  • Draft was missing PositionV.
    • This can be really important.  Hope to get that one back.  Especially for points leagues.
  • Importing players fails for 102 players
    • More than half those players are important and I noticed some are FA.
    • Ken seems to know about the FA issues is looking to fix it, I read.
    • Is that the only issue?
  • UI issues when entering things in boxes.   Trying to change league settings.  Can't change the team from 12 to 10.  Hit save and navigate back to page and then it works.  I've seen this for other boxes.

Another thing I recommend is to have auction dollar values for PositionV.

I tried Importing with the Baseball Monster csv format  still works (tested for pitchers), however I lost important 4 players from the import, including Alex Reyes, Vince Velasquez,  Carl Edwards Jr., and Brad Boxburger).

BTW: I appoligize for mixing defects with supporting new features.  The defect of importing should be addressed in another post that I opened.

Yes, there are some interface issues.  You should be able to select another import and tab to it.

FYI - I'm having lots of trouble changing items like Categories and Number of Teams in the League Settings. I can't select these items - tried several different browser types & mobile.

Ken, are you going to be allowing export to excel from the projections page? If so, do you have an estimate about when?

Yes, this will be in the next update, likely tomorrow.

Another thing I miss is Replacements. I used Using Replacements when figuring player relative value, especially with DL slots.  No comparison column makes it more apparent that this is missing.

We should have the hitters finished Tuesday, and then we'll look into the replacement players and comparison columns.  Plus a few other nagging issues.

Thanks Ken. I'm probably suffering a bit in my drafts without the features but according to Yahoo! I'm doing great.  One thing that bothers me is I keep on missing on Ohtani in drafts.  I figured it out, even though I imported him with pitchers and hitters, then again with pitchers, he doesn't show right.  He's showing only as DH but with pitching stats.  He need to show in the most valuable format for him, as a SP.  My league is Yahoo! by the way.  On exporting he showing as inactive and DH/SP but not on a team (though he was on a team after the draft).

Seemed like a good place to toss this request... the table that showed the positional adjustments isn't appearing anywhere anymore.

The ability to comment on players projections would be a good thing to add back in as well.  What is up with Carpenters projection?  Why are his R/RBI so high?

The position adjustments are on the draft tracker, but we'll add them to projections too. For comments, you an use the Projection Monster pages.  These also show the assumptions we use to generate the projections:

Wondering if we'll be seeing some missing features, as we are in week 1:

  • Daily Head 2 Head Analysis
  • Projections with replacements
  • Each players page having their 2018 stats/rankings and log the 2018 stats in the game log

Thanks for the support Baseballmonster!

Thanks

You can import and setup your league here:

League Settings:https://baseballmonster.com/leaguesettings.aspx

Team Players: https://baseballmonster.com/teamplayers.aspx

For starter/bench filters, I believe they only apply once starters are confirmed.

I don't think that is the issue Ken (for non-starters showing up). Even when I select only starting pitchers I see a good number of RP. Jorge de la Rosa for example is showing up even though Walker is the known starter for Arizona.

Really need that ability to change analysis sources on the daily/weekly projection tools.  Or your projections need a shitton of work.  Pick one :p
It shouldn't be advising me to play someone utterly slumping like Yelich (vs a lefty no less!) while guys like Torres/Merrifield/DeShields have been tearing the cover off the ball.  I used to be able to change the analysis to This season or my own projections.  Solely relying on your projections isn't... working.

For Fanduel, you can start a Pitcher and 4 batters from a team. On Monster it doesnt allow that to happen. Can you set it so you can start a Pitcher and 4 batters from one team without it being a violation?

Baseball is a game of statistics.  If you are bashing someone's daily projections in baseball DFS because "they are not working"  only tells me that you do not understand the variance in the game of baseball.  The key to this site is not the projections but how the "statistics"  are easily displayed for both players and pitchers.  Use those to make your own projections.  I have used this site for several years.  It is in my opinion the best baseball site for DFS.  If you are expecting to win everynight in DFS you are fooling yourself.  The key is developing a strategy and sticking with it.   One problem especially in baseball is that people develop a strategy and because they did not win the first night they abandon it.  I will offer my advice on how to use this site.  If you play Gpps sort players by factors from highest to lowest.  This identifies teams to stack.  It works over time if you stick with that strategy.  So you payed up for pitcher and seeking value.  Sort by ratio from highest to lowest.  This identifies players with value.  It is unbelievable to me how often the top guy pays off his salary and more.  The best time to do this is after lineups have been confirmed.  Good Luck and remember being successful 30% of the time in baseball gets you in the Hall of Fame.

Suicidesqueezer, I agree with you the comment by descender is moronic. He has no understanding of statistics or probability and will likely hemorrhage money no matter what he does. I also agree with you losing is a frequent thing in GPPs and the norm. Just have to ride it out until the big night(s) come. I vehemently disagree with you though about the key to Baseball Monster "not being the projections". Projections are the essence (aside from lineup construction, which you did allude to) of success in DFS. Basketball Monster is no different. Why would someone use this site (or Basketball Monster for example) to make their own projections? The key to Ken providing a good product is having top-notch projections; and I think he does a great job. Silly to just say the intent of this site though is to view statistics; you can do that anywhere.

I have been using this site for the better part of a decade, but I appreciate your abusive and unnecessary commentary from the DFS crowd.  The weekly projection tool has nothing to do with DFS.

Focus on DFS has progressively degraded this website's full-season functionality over the last 4 years.  The lack of focus on the current "ROS" projections is pretty obvious.  I don't blame him, it's a one man show here now and he doesn't accept offers for help.

I just need the tools we HAD back so that I don't have to rely on his one set of data.  For some reason half of the tools keep disappearing between seasons.

Looks like its there now in a drop-down, if I am not mistaken... unless I had missed that at the time.
