Is there a way to import this https://baseballmonster.com/lineups.aspx into excel? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Currently not, but that's a good idea. Would a CSV format work? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
It should work. I wish it worked with Excel Power Query 0% Agree (0 votes) |
kslight, you would be my hero if you could make something happen to get these lineups. I can find other sources but they don't list a projected lineup and only post when they have a confirmed lineup. I like a projected lineup early in the day and then update it when the official lineup is released as you do here at Baseball Monster. Other sources i've found that fit my requirements are not importable to Exce. For example fantasylabs has it and I need an elaborate workaround to get them, I had to get help for that as it's above my vba knowledge base. I'm not a computer scientist, but enjoy dabbling in baseball projections. OC99 0% Agree (0 votes) |
It shouldn't be too hard to create a CSV format containing: team code, mlb id, player name, batting order, position, confirmed Would this do it? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Yes that would do it. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
kslight, just wondering if this is being worked on and if there is a timeline? Thanks for your help! 0% Agree (0 votes) |
I'll give it a shot Monday so I would estimate Tuesday. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
That would be fantastic! I hope it works out. Keep me posted 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Here's a link showing to get a CSV for today's lineups: https://baseballmonster.com/Lineups.aspx?csv=1 How's this look, and are any other fields needed? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
kslight....that looks awesome! I think I can work with this. The next question I have is how often will the csv be updated? Is it updated everytime lineups are confirmed on baseball monster? What is your source for the lineups? Where will I find the daily link to access these. I really appreciate your efforts in doing this. I'm suprised how hard it is to find such a basic necessity (lineups) for easy import into excel. Now onto figuring out the best way to import these to my excel sheet, if you have any tips you'd like to share I'm all ears! Thanks again OC99 0% Agree (0 votes) |
The CSV holds the same info as the Lineups page so it's updated as lineups come in. For a source, we either use Twitter or rely on our data provider, SportRadar (if timely enough). 0% Agree (0 votes) |
all the best to you! you're a real class act kslight 0% Agree (0 votes) |
I know I'm reaching here but is there any chance of getting the table shown in the .csv as an added page to the site? So basically a stripped down version of the daily lineups page that could be easily scraped into excel? The way it's set up now becomes complicated because you have to log into the site and goto your user profile to access .csv files. I figure it can't hurt to ask. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
It shouldn't require a login. Browsing to: https://baseballmonster.com/Lineups.aspx?csv=1 should be available to everyone. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Works like a charm through excel power query! Thank you so much, I hope others can benefit as well! 0% Agree (0 votes) |
