However, ATC is a good one to start with as it averages a bunch of different projection systems, which means you flatten out some of the different projection systems' bigger differences. This tends to make it more accurate overall (although, of course, it will definitely miss a breakout or bust quite frequently, just like all projection systems do).
One thing to note: Steamer600 estimates 600 plate appearances for every single person, so don't use it as a baseline projection system. However, it can be helpful for examining the skill level of rookies or other players with less certain playing time -- this is because those players look bad under most projection systems as they will have fewer plate appearances or innings pitched, so less opportunity to earn stats. Alternatively, you can also use BaseballMonster's "per game value" feature on the projection page, which does roughly the same thing with any projection system you use. 100% Agree (5 votes) |
