This week in my 5x5 Head to Head league which allows daily changes I am killing my opponent in every categroy except average (through Friday results), so I decided to use BM's Daily projections to sit a couple a few of my hitters who hit for less average for the next couple of days. I went to Daily projections to determine who they were and went back to my weekly matchup to remove the check next to their names for Saturday and Sunday.

When I did the refresh, my team batting average went DOWN not up even though, according to Daily Projections, I should have raised my overall team average for Saturday and Sunday. This does not make sense. Can you please explain/investigate?

For your investigation you can use my account, go to matchup 4 and remove Weeks and Rios for Saturday and Weeks, Rios, Aoki and Middlebrooks for Sunday.

Thanks for your help.

I will look at this today and see what's up.  I'll also make sure the processing handles the doubleheader tomorrow.

Ultra quick response as usual and thanks for looking at the doubleheaders, those could make a big difference.

The doubleheader processing is there for H2H and Daily Projections.  You can now select which game your daily provider uses for each day.

Good timing on the doubleheaders Ken. Getting it done on a Sunday no less! When you have a chance I'd like to hear what you found on the other issue above. Thanks.

Are you saying your overall team average goes down when you remove these players?

Here is what I did -- I am losing in AVG in h2h this week and killing my opponent in all other categories, so my objective as to sit players who are projected for a low average today (Sunday). I went to Daily porjections and sorted my players by average. I saw that Weeks, Rios, Aoki and Middlebrooks were porjected to have the lowest average today. I then went back into Head to Head Daily and observed that my batting average for the week went down when I sat this players instead of up.  I expected it to go up since I was sitting players with the lower averages and thus increasing my overall projected team average for the day.

It looks like your current weekly average is low, about 0.220.  Weeks and the others are projected to hit higher than 0.220 so sitting them would actually cause your end-of-week average to be lower.  For example, if you only played Weeks, and he was projected at 0.250, playing him would bump your weekly average to 0.221 while sitting him would leave it at 0.220 (meaning sitting him caused a lower average).  Does this sound like what's happening?

I guess I was looking at it this way: if my weekly average is .220 then it seemed intuitive that I'd end up with a higher weekly average if I put in 9 players, who were projected to COLLECTIVELY hit .300 vs 13 players who were projected to COLLECTIVELY hit .285, but after doing some math I could see how that assumption could be wrong. The difference of the collective BA would have to have been more in order to overcome the large number of at bats I was losing.

Nevermind. Sorry to take you off of more important work.
