Barring an unlikely move to a seldom-seen six-man starting rotation, the Braves have to move someone to the bullpen or make a trade, unless there’s an injury in the next week or two. “I don’t know — that’s my honest-to-God answer,” Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Sunday. “I don’t think there’s a clear-cut answer right now. And I don’t want to say, ‘Let’s see what happens,’ because people think, ‘Fredi’s hoping somebody gets hurt.’ And I don’t want that. I want everybody to be pitching healthy and then we’ve got to come up with some kind of plan. But right now we don’t have a plan.”

Mr. Buser, what are your on dropping Gausman to pick up Beachy in a keeper league. For what its worth I have Medlen too (since his name has come up as possibly moving to the pen).

I'm assuming you are asking because Gausman doesn't really have keeper potential? I don't see him helping much this season.

medlen would be my guess to go to the bullpen. His first 2 years was all relief work after he failed at starter as a rookie. last year he was brought to the rotation when Jair Jurrgens and beachy went down. Hudson, Minor, Tehrehan, Beachy, maholm seem like the logical rotation.

The Beachy decision delayed for at least a bit longer. Perhaps this setback makes it more likey that Beachy is the one who ends up in the long relief/spot starter role. Let him work his arm strength up and get him back in the rotation full-time next season.

An MRI Saturday morning revealed what both Braves physicians and Brandon Beachy suspected – he has some inflammation in his surgically-repaired elbow but no structural damage and just needs some rest.
