Had a new manager take over in a 20 team dynasty league and I of course decided to go after him in trades. Sent him a nice note saying I had interest in Braun, Wainwright, and Josh Hamilton and would be interested in any deal as long as it made sense for my team. This is a 20 team, 25 man roster, H2H dynasty league that counts holds and OPS and has some slightly odd starting positions (see roster below). Anyways, his first offer to me was his Ryan Braun for Chris Davis and Ryan Cook. For some reason I knew he was going to target Chris Davis. So the question is, is Ryan Braun (injury and PEDs issues) worth getting for Chris Davis who can't possibly keep this up for seasons to come? Thoughts? Additionally I'm stacked at 1B

I dont think you can trade Chris Davis for Ryan Bruan at this point with all the question marks surrounding Bruan
Chris davis is not only several years younger, hes actually playing better and appears to be the real deal
I would personally try and flip Pujols for Braun .. maybe hes feelign the heat of Braun as well and would make the deal for pujols based on his name alone.. plus you could keep davis at 1bag

Yeah, you've got the specter of both injury and suspension with Braun, both together could mean you don't get true production from him into late next season (if he gets 100 games and the appeal process pushes it out). I have Braun in my only keeper league, and I'd take Davis for him if it were offered.

I'd consider it. Not often you can get top 3 talent, warts nnotwithstanding
but I'd suggest pushing for a second player at first, rather than a straight up deal, and see if he bites

Thanks guys. Couldn't quite pull the trigger, but kept an open conversation with him. The crazy part was he offered Adam Wainwright for my Chris Davis and Ubaldo Jimenez and I said, "this is worse". So assuming he was interested in Davis big time, I offered Chris Davis, Ian Kennedy (who I picked up off waives about 3 weeks ago) and Ryan Cook for Braun and Wainwright. I didn't really expect him to accept it, but he did. Unfortunately one manager is already saying he thinks its ridiculous, but come on!

Wow, that dude must really have a low opinion of Braun I can see the league having an issue with that one, but you really can argue that Braun looks pretty sketchy in the short- and medium-term. Kennedy + Cook sketchy? Probably not, but if the other manager wants to get it done...

I should mention as well that he's in second to last place out of 20, has a pretty good offense already, but his only eligible 1B is Ike Davis so he's got problems there for sure since Ike isn't even playing right now. This league really does have a hatred toward veteran/older players. Not sure what the deal is, but it makes competing now a bit easier. Pujols who I would love to have moved for Braun essentially is worth little at this point or not worth enough to make trading him a net positive result.

That's not so unusual in keeper leagues. As you mentioned, it makes it easier to compete in the present.. and isn't that really the point?
