After he initially left Sunday's game, word from Padres camp was that third baseman Chase Headley had a jammed thumb and was simply day-to-day. However, the news got worse. Headley is set to see a specialist to have X-rays and other tests -- and his status for opening day is now "in doubt," according to multiple reporters, including Corey Brock of MLB.com.

Bad news on 3B Chase Headley. He has a small fracture in left thumb. Could miss a month.

The good news for Headley: There is no ligament or tendon damage around the non-displaced fracture at the tip of the thumb. Out 4-6 weeks
