Wow, 1B is pretty stacked this year. Would be happy with any of the top 12. | 1 | 7 | 3 (-4) | 1.10 | 0.64 | 0.93 | Goldschmidt, Paul | | | ARI | 1B | 154 | | 572 | 96 | 166 | 92 | 85 | 138 | 0.291 | 31 | 14 | 1.04 | 1.55 | 1.49 | 1.36 | 0.08 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 2 | 11 | 16 (+5) | 0.99 | 0.78 | 0.61 | Encarnacion, Edwin | | | TOR | 1B/3B | 146 | | 537 | 94 | 148 | 99 | 80 | 75 | 0.275 | 36 | 8 | -0.05 | 1.41 | 2.20 | 1.77 | -0.40 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 2 | 12 | 7 (-5) | 0.95 | 0.49 | 1.11 | Davis, Chris | | | BAL | 1B | 154 | | 587 | 95 | 157 | 100 | 54 | 193 | 0.268 | 41 | 4 | -0.54 | 1.52 | 2.72 | 1.84 | -0.77 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 2 | 13 | 17 (+4) | 0.94 | 0.47 | -0.04 | Fielder, Prince | | | TEX | 1B | 160 | | 601 | 97 | 173 | 104 | 77 | 101 | 0.287 | 28 | 1 | 0.80 | 1.64 | 1.14 | 2.09 | -0.98 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 3 | 24 | 15 (-9) | 0.71 | 0.24 | 0.14 | Votto, Joey | | | CIN | 1B | 154 | | 526 | 94 | 160 | 77 | 115 | 122 | 0.305 | 23 | 6 | 1.83 | 1.42 | 0.48 | 0.41 | -0.60 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 4 | 37 | 31 (-6) | 0.49 | 0.02 | 0.53 | Freeman, Freddie | | | ATL | 1B | 149 | | 560 | 84 | 164 | 85 | 69 | 124 | 0.292 | 24 | 2 | 1.08 | 0.66 | 0.68 | 0.92 | -0.91 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 4 | 39 | 45 (+6) | 0.45 | -0.01 | -0.15 | Pujols, Albert | | | LAA | 1B | 139 | | 540 | 79 | 150 | 95 | 53 | 68 | 0.277 | 28 | 4 | 0.08 | 0.33 | 1.08 | 1.55 | -0.77 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 5 | 41 | 68 (+27) | 0.44 | -0.03 | -0.07 | Hosmer, Eric | | | KC | 1B | 154 | | 595 | 80 | 171 | 87 | 51 | 97 | 0.287 | 19 | 13 | 0.80 | 0.38 | 0.05 | 1.01 | -0.05 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 5 | 47 | 59 (+12) | 0.40 | -0.07 | -0.13 | Gonzalez, Adrian | | | LAD | 1B | 157 | | 586 | 76 | 169 | 92 | 55 | 104 | 0.289 | 23 | 1 | 0.92 | 0.11 | 0.57 | 1.33 | -0.95 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 5 | 49 | 58 (+9) | 0.37 | -0.10 | 0.76 | Ortiz, David | | | BOS | 1B | 130 | | 464 | 79 | 135 | 88 | 69 | 85 | 0.290 | 24 | 1 | 0.79 | 0.31 | 0.60 | 1.10 | -0.95 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 6 | 54 | 54 (0) | 0.31 | 0.11 | 0.25 | Craig, Allen | | | STL | 1B/OF | 138 | | 525 | 68 | 160 | 88 | 41 | 98 | 0.305 | 19 | 3 | 1.82 | -0.50 | 0.02 | 1.09 | -0.86 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 7 | 65 | 91 (+26) | 0.25 | -0.22 | -0.57 | Butler, Billy | | | KC | 1B | 159 | | 577 | 80 | 167 | 85 | 65 | 103 | 0.289 | 19 | 1 | 0.91 | 0.37 | 0.03 | 0.93 | -1.01 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 7 | 66 | 140 (+74) | 0.23 | -0.24 | | Abreu, Jose | | | CHW | 1B | 138 | | 515 | 78 | 140 | 81 | 61 | 107 | 0.271 | 28 | 6 | -0.29 | 0.23 | 1.12 | 0.69 | -0.61 |
Took out the guys with catcher eligibility. 100% Agree (1 vote) |
Will you be waiting on the position this year due to the depth? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
At least a bit. I figure I'll get a better sense mock drafting, haven't drafted yet. Definitely less urgent than some other positions. 3B, where #12 you're looking at the likes of will middlebrooks and jedd gyorko. And 2B, SS, forget about it. So my theory is yeah, make sure to at least give consideration to positional value. Take the 1B only if he's delivering value for that draft pick? My top of draft strategy, at least right now, is that if I can't get Trout, Cabrera or Kershaw, I'd be super happy with a late pick and grab an Encarnacion or Tulo. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Always enjoy your insight Liam. I'm in 2 leagues.. One is a points league where I've made another thread about this including the actual scoring system and I am pick 4 of 12. The other a 6x6 Roto league with QS and OPS and I am pick 3 of 13. You're making me think I should be taking Kershaw, if available, in both. Leaning towards him in the points league, though it would be hard for me to not take McCutchen or Goldy in the roto. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
I have a draft tonight, and I'm hoping to draft early so I don't have to pick one of the 1B at the end of round 1 or start of 2. Even though 1B is deep, they will still go quickly since most leagues have 1B, CI, and Util to fill. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Nice tomm. I hope for your and my sake I'm right! I think it is tough to take Kershaw with the third pick... you know you're in the minority and he would have fallen to you 4-6. Don't imagine you can negotiate a trade, promise #5 McCutchen or similar if you can get Kershaw plus something? Ken does make a good point, particularly if you have a CI slot in your league... it'll go substantially deeper at 1B so don't wait too long. Seems to drop off substantially after pick 18 or so, but there is some value like Daniel Murphy, Brandon Belt, Matt Adams if you get jammed. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
