I've got got several waiver wonders and over performers along with some nice depth about to come back....mesoraco today, kipnis and calhoun shortly. My pitching needs work but my league has been stingy on trading pitchers. I want to get another true ace. Who should I be packaging to maximize my depth? 12 Teams | 12 Hitters Per Team [6 Active = HR RBI SB R BA OBP] | 12 Pitchers Per Team [6 Active = W SV ERA WHIP SO QS] 2 | 13 | 0.79 | Mauer, Joe | | MIN | C/1B | 111 | | 422 | 67 | 132 | 54 | 62 | 80 | 0.314 | 9 | 2 | 0.402 | -0.73 | 0.26 | -0.77 | 1.24 | 2.27 | 2.50 | 2 | 16 | 0.75 | Gonzalez, Carlos | | COL | OF | 101 | | 392 | 64 | 111 | 63 | 39 | 99 | 0.284 | 21 | 17 | 0.350 | 1.29 | 1.00 | 0.75 | 0.93 | 0.41 | 0.15 | 2 | 24 | 0.59 | Donaldson, Josh | | OAK | 3B | 112 | | 427 | 65 | 119 | 70 | 47 | 84 | 0.279 | 18 | 4 | 0.357 | 0.77 | 1.58 | -0.50 | 1.04 | 0.18 | 0.49 | 3 | 28 | 0.50 | Puig, Yasiel | | LAD | OF | 102 | | 407 | 65 | 114 | 51 | 40 | 95 | 0.281 | 18 | 10 | 0.360 | 0.83 | 0.05 | 0.13 | 1.08 | 0.29 | 0.59 | 3 | 35 | 0.38 | Abreu, Jose | | CHW | 1B | 101 | | 385 | 58 | 103 | 63 | 37 | 91 | 0.268 | 24 | 2 | 0.348 | 1.88 | 1.02 | -0.69 | 0.40 | -0.44 | 0.10 | 4 | 48 | 0.12 | Kipnis, Jason | | CLE | 2B | 102 | | 381 | 52 | 105 | 50 | 49 | 83 | 0.275 | 10 | 19 | 0.361 | -0.57 | -0.04 | 1.02 | -0.24 | -0.09 | 0.63 | 5 | 53 | 0.04 | Dozier, Brian | | MIN | 2B | 110 | | 446 | 66 | 111 | 41 | 50 | 94 | 0.250 | 15 | 27 | 0.333 | 0.31 | -0.79 | 1.79 | 1.19 | -1.65 | -0.63 | 5 | 56 | 0.00 | Brantley, Michael | | CLE | OF | 114 | | 408 | 49 | 116 | 55 | 32 | 42 | 0.285 | 9 | 16 | 0.340 | -0.76 | 0.33 | 0.66 | -0.47 | 0.52 | -0.26 | 6 | 72 | -0.16 | Calhoun, Kole | | LAA | OF | 99 | | 407 | 66 | 107 | 42 | 40 | 84 | 0.264 | 13 | 8 | 0.332 | -0.01 | -0.69 | -0.17 | 1.20 | -0.70 | -0.58 | 8 | 86 | -0.29 | Blackmon, Charlie | | COL | OF | 89 | | 370 | 51 | 106 | 40 | 23 | 62 | 0.288 | 8 | 10 | 0.338 | -1.02 | -0.89 | 0.12 | -0.26 | 0.63 | -0.30 | 8 | 92 | -0.33 | Davis, Rajai | | DET | OF | 94 | | 323 | 39 | 88 | 36 | 20 | 64 | 0.272 | 6 | 38 | 0.325 | -1.35 | -1.25 | 2.96 | -1.41 | -0.19 | -0.71 | 15 | 179 | -0.89 | Mesoraco, Devin | | CIN | C | 92 | | 298 | 34 | 79 | 38 | 26 | 55 | 0.264 | 11 | 2 | 0.324 | -0.43 | -1.04 | -0.74 | -1.96 | -0.51 | -0.68 | 17 | 203 | -1.11 | Escobar, Alcides | | KC | SS | 119 | | 362 | 34 | 93 | 33 | 18 | 53 | 0.258 | 4 | 22 | 0.298 | -1.73 | -1.46 | 1.25 | -1.92 | -0.93 | -1.85 | |

You have Kipnis coming back so I think Dozier would be a great player for you to move. I recently traded him for Anibal Sanchez so perhaps a trade like this would be available to you. 100% Agree (1 vote) |
Checking your league, it does look like SP are hard to find. The addition of QS make them more valuable than normal leagues. Assuming your team has been imported recently, it looks like decent hitters are available such as Victorino and Walker so trading Dozier would be simple since he can be replaced. If the other owners are stingy with their SP, you may need to target someone who's had a poor start like Zimmerman, Sanchez (as suggested below), Bailey, Minor, Cole, or Ryu (who should be back this week). I would avoid starters that don't help in WHIP like Gio Gonzalez, Verlander, Hamels, and Shields (and your guy Lynn). 0% Agree (0 votes) |
So I traded Cargo/Lynn for Cueto today. I know giving up Cargo seems like a lot, but I'm currently leading my league in runs/hr's/rbi and 2nd in stl's (of which he isn't doing lately since the knee flare up). Did I give up too much? I'll still have an OF of Puig/Brantley/Blackmon/Davis and can pick up someone like Pollack. I think this balances out my team a bit more. All Cargo gave me this week was 3 rbi and I'm winnng that 48 to 13 right now haha. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Way too much you got destroyed in that trade IMO 100% Agree (2 votes) |
Based on what? Take out names and look at numbers and consider i've got a surplus of hitting and too many batters to play regularly. People won't trade for dozier's and blackmon's when an ace is involved. I can play the wire for offensive stat's, good pitchers are not out there. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
I've got calhoun coming back too. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
I think Cargo should get you top twenty talent in your league. While you can justify the trade given your hitter strength, in my mind you likely could have gotten a better pitcher than Cueto. His numbers are ridiculous thus far but he's benefited in part from crazy BABIP against of .160, 99.5% runners left on base. He'll be good but I'd rather have Scherzer, Darvish, Strasburg. And Lynn has a decent value too. That said, it sounds like you couldn't get people to part with their aces, so if you think it was the best trade you can make and it makes you better, then all for it. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
This trade fails in both ROTO and H2H. Should have been Cargo alone only if you think its fine. I traded Cueto Stas and Rizzo for Miggy. You trade Cargo and lynn for Cueto. Kind of opposite trades. In the long run, it will hurt you but in the short term it will be fine. I really hope Cueto keeps this up for you which is almost impossible for him to continue on this hot pace due to his injury plague seasons in the past. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
I offered him straight up for every pitcher you mentioned and several others. People in my league do not part with top 1-2 tier pitchers given that we count Quality starts and wins. I was willing to take a slight hit offensively. Mainly wanted to improve on K's era and whip. Oh well, let's go cueto! 100% Agree (1 vote) |
My logic is this Cueto has greatly overperformed to start the year and I don't see him as that much of an improvement over Lynn. Cargo is a top ten fantasy player so in my mind you gave up a top ten player for a slight improvement at pitcher. Not to mention Cueto also carrier an injury risk, he has been hurt 2 of the last three years. He has really outperformed his periphal stats the last few years and I tend to think he will regress sooner rather than later. Just out of curiosity where were Cargo and Cueto drafted in your league? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Its not a bad trade but you could done better thats all. Sometimes patient is key just like my leagues only 1 trade. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Worth noting that Cargo drops in value a bit in his league given inclusion of OBP. Cueto does have a career best xFIP going, around 2.8... So he is pitching like an elite starter... Good luck 100% Agree (1 vote) |
Yea but that xfip doesn't take into account that his swinging strike rate implies his strikeouts are about to plummet 0% Agree (0 votes) |
He took the gamble hope it pays off. Yesterday was the first sign of regression I'm glad I got all my shares out high. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
