See my team analysis below. I was offered: Billy Hamilton, Joe Nathan, Jason Vargas, and Wily Peralta for Mike Napoli, Brett Gardner, Kole Calhoun, and Josh Beckett. I'm ok in steals but could use a closer. Not sure if I'd keep or drop Vargas and Peralta, they're pretty much throw ins. 12 Teams | 13 Hitters Per Team $200 Per Team [5 Active = HR RBI SB R BA] | 10 Pitchers Per Team $60 Per Team [5 Active = W SV ERA WHIP SO] 1 | 1 | 2.25 | Cabrera, Miguel | | DET | 1B/3B | 114 | | 426 | 78 | 136 | 89 | 60 | 73 | 0.319 | 28 | 2 | 2.93 | 3.64 | -0.73 | 2.68 | 2.71 | 1 | 2 | 2.04 | Trout, Mike | | LAA | OF | 111 | | 415 | 84 | 129 | 68 | 74 | 104 | 0.311 | 20 | 23 | 1.44 | 1.77 | 1.61 | 3.25 | 2.15 | 2 | 23 | 0.59 | Holliday, Matt | | STL | OF | 101 | | 381 | 60 | 114 | 57 | 51 | 67 | 0.298 | 15 | 4 | 0.50 | 0.81 | -0.55 | 0.92 | 1.25 | 3 | 31 | 0.50 | Hosmer, Eric | | KC | 1B | 110 | | 424 | 54 | 126 | 63 | 36 | 67 | 0.298 | 11 | 6 | -0.30 | 1.33 | -0.25 | 0.35 | 1.39 | 3 | 36 | 0.42 | Hunter, Torii | | DET | OF | 101 | | 413 | 56 | 123 | 58 | 19 | 77 | 0.297 | 12 | 3 | -0.06 | 0.92 | -0.61 | 0.54 | 1.30 | 4 | 42 | 0.34 | Victorino, Shane | | BOS | OF | 95 | | 393 | 58 | 110 | 49 | 27 | 58 | 0.280 | 11 | 17 | -0.36 | 0.05 | 0.93 | 0.80 | 0.25 | 5 | 58 | 0.06 | Calhoun, Kole | | LAA | OF | 97 | | 404 | 67 | 107 | 42 | 40 | 83 | 0.264 | 13 | 7 | 0.11 | -0.58 | -0.14 | 1.61 | -0.68 | 5 | 59 | 0.05 | Napoli, Mike | | BOS | 1B | 99 | | 349 | 52 | 90 | 56 | 54 | 118 | 0.257 | 18 | 1 | 1.09 | 0.72 | -0.84 | 0.24 | -0.95 | 7 | 73 | -0.08 | Ramirez, Alexei | | CHW | SS | 111 | | 375 | 40 | 111 | 48 | 16 | 40 | 0.296 | 6 | 16 | -1.26 | -0.02 | 0.75 | -0.98 | 1.12 | 8 | 87 | -0.20 | Hill, Aaron | | ARI | 2B | 96 | | 348 | 42 | 96 | 52 | 27 | 53 | 0.277 | 12 | 4 | -0.16 | 0.36 | -0.49 | -0.80 | 0.07 | 9 | 105 | -0.33 | Gardner, Brett | | NYY | OF | 107 | | 345 | 40 | 96 | 39 | 36 | 78 | 0.278 | 5 | 22 | -1.47 | -0.82 | 1.45 | -0.94 | 0.12 | 17 | 194 | -1.00 | Pierzynski, A.J. | | BOS | C | 81 | | 299 | 33 | 79 | 35 | 10 | 47 | 0.265 | 8 | 0 | -0.79 | -1.20 | -0.91 | -1.65 | -0.46 | |

I'm glad that someone actually offer you a trade to benefit you too. This trade is good in a swap of M. Napoli and B. Gardner for B. Hamilton and J. Nathan. You already have E. Hosmer so giving up 1 of your first basemen is good and picking up the best base stealer in the league is great and you get a closer so good job. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
This site loves Kole Calhoun though. And is Hamilton really any more valuable than Gardner? Gardner is ranked 46 on the season and 9 in the last month on Yahoo. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Gardner and Hamilton are pretty close in value so if you remove the throw-ins, it's Napoli and Calhoun for Nathan. Is that the decision, or do you think the other players offer value? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
No I'd agree those are the throw-ins. I'm trying to decide if I'd actually rather Hamilton over Gardner, and if I can get him to swap Peralta & Vargas for Dallas Keuchel or Kyle Lohse. If he values Hamilton more than Gardner then it might be worth it for me to remove them and try to get more from him. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
In my league no one will trade their closer unless they are getting a ranked 50 and above player. Do you really need the closer and miss out on the bats or vice versa? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Honestly, I think Billy Hamilton is pretty bad. I mean it's steals, and nothing else. He literally HAS to steal 100 bases to make up for how terrible he is everywhere else ( even then he isn't worth it imo). He won't steal 100 because you cannot steal first base, and his slash line in AAA last year should have been a good indicator of how he would struggle to contribute at the major league level. But, I loathe players like him...you have to make up so much elsewhere with a guy like him on your team. I don't see him holding much more value, if any, over Gardner. Also, I really like Calhoun...he can do a bit of everything. I suppose if you really need a closer go for it...but I would hold and or try to work something else out. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Thanks guys, I ended up negotiating and got him to accept Calhoun and Beckett for Nathan. 100% Agree (1 vote) |
