Is he still worth a top three pick with the whole biogenesis thing hanging over his head? Is it something to worry about? Will he actually get suspended?

I would hate to be picking 3. Then again Canoe is in the same boat. I would take Kemp at 3. He might be the better pick anyway. But the 4 pick guy now he has to decide if Pujols is worth taking at the 4 slot over "needle" Braun.

I have Braun in a keeper league, and I'm certainly concerned. But there are two camps here, and you'll have to decide for yourself where you come down. Scott Pianowski said in our podcast that he wouldn't take Braun 1-2 and just prays to not pick 3, while this guy says Braun is on top of his board because "what if" and fear shouldn't motivate your drafting. What nobody can say with any kind of certainty is how this plays out.

There is another point. Braun has already been convicted once of steroids. While he dodged the 50 game penalty he did not erase his first time mark. So if he gets busted again he is facing a 100 game suspension not 50. Plus it will be his second strike. Braun really has nobody to blame but himself. When the arbitrator let him off the penalty hook the first time he should have kept his flipping mouth shut. Instead he threw around words like "exonerated" innocent, false charges. When his guilt was never in doubt or in question. Some arbitrator let him off because, well he was bribed to do it. Still it does not change the scenario much. U either hope for the best or expect the worst. Very little middle ground. I am in the camp that MLB really wants to nail Braun. What I will never understand is when Braun got caught the first time, why would he do it again? Does he really get that much talent out of a needle?

Braun won his appeal and his positive test and subsequent suspension were overturned - if he is penalized, it will be 50 games.

I'm glad somebody else is talking about this, I thought I was just paranoid.  ESPN has him #1.

I'd still take him third, followed by Cano.  He's just too good, and projections offer too much separation value-wise -- the chance that MLB pins down some real evidence is low, though it's there.  After those guys, it's tough.  My vote is Kershaw; though I'm in a minority.  Most of the hitters I like 5-12 as best per game, positional values can be had later -- Beltre, Pedroia, Tulowitzki.

I got him for $49 in an auction draft last wknd. I really just wanted to push his price up as I had him going for closer to 53-54 and wasn't ready to commit to him but when I raised to 49 the couple other bidders backed down. I'm not crazy about taking on the risk but hopefully he doesn't get suspended and has another big season. I gotta admit though I was thoroughly impressed with how he went about his business last year and put up huge #s despite the pressure he was faced with from the steroid accusations.

Trout went for 55 and Miggy for 57 if you're looking for a price comp. A few others:

Kemp 46

McCutchen 43

Cano 43

This thread seems to be valid again. I would advise Braun owners to sell fast. This time the Biogenesis clinic owner is their informant. Doesn't it seem weird that the dealer is informing on the junkies?
