Can someone tell me if there's an easy way to track and plug and play platoon players based on rightie vs leftie pitching? I'm in a few deep leagues so really I'm looking to see if it's possible to match up two guys to create one pseudo better player. It would be nice to see information more easily that x player sits mostly against righties and therefore I could set my lineups a bit easier. Anyone have any tips or suggestions? Seems like batters who hit righties are more plentiful by a decent margin. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Is this for a particular position or just in general trying to use a streaming option? I know I use C Jaso quite a bit who sits pretty much against lefties. Others that I recall change drastically seem to be Joyce, Garret Jones, and Gomes but I'm sure there are many others. I pretty much look daily at my team first and use a streaming spot to supplement my roster if I have bad matchups. You'll often find the guys like I mentioned above as FA's due to them being hard to roster full-time but they can become very good plug & plays when sprinkled in. So while I don't a list I just rely upon using the BBallMonster factors scanning the values daily and making a judgment call if it warrants sitting one of my regulars. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Thanks for the reply man. I'm looking at corner and OF positions. I'm in a few deep leagues, but one in particular with three UTIL spots that's a H2H weekly league (20 teams 25ish rosters) and I'm running into a decent amount of my platoon guys being benched vs match-ups. In general I set my lineups in the morning and always seem to be a few minutes short of adjusting before its too late. One of the issues is I have Juan Francisco, Mark Reynolds, and Ike Davis, who hit righties well but lefties pretty poorly. Lefty only hitters aren't as common, but I'd rather stick someone in with a chance to hit in the morning then feel bad about someone sitting on my bench who actually produces. Ike Davis is hitting .318 against righties for example, but has zero hits in 15 chances against lefties. Ideally if I could trade or add a lefty hitting specialist then I could easily interchange the two. I know it's not super easy to accomplish, but I was just curious if anyone had success doing anything in particular. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
I just started doing this a few weeks ago and it's been going awesome. The end of my bench I have Viciedo, Lind, and Matt Joyce. Against opposite handed pitchers these guys become elite and they are just non plays otherwise. It is almost like having another couple high end power bats on the team. 100% Agree (1 vote) |
I do the same, though I tend to stream them so it only takes one or two roster spots. Downside is that once dropped, I can't pick them up again for a couple days and they may get scooped. But Viciedo, Lind, Joyce, Gomes, Dunn have been hanging on the wire all season. I think Ken mentioned in another forum topic that he'll see if he can post the righty/lefty info, which should be helpful. Can also back into it with the dailies looking at high projections and who they're facing. Seems like the ideal platoon would be to have two players from the same team, one who crushes righties and one who crushes lefties. But haven't found that :) 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Setting up for platoon positions in fantasy totally works, but you don't do it like a real manager would. You should avoid guys that only hit lefties better as there are not enough lefty pitchers to get the guy in your lineup. 100% Agree (1 vote) |
Thanks guys. You all seem to be thinking like I'm thinking. I will say I don't have the option to stream with as deep as this league and a few others are. Getting the data in a more easily accessible form would help. It's interesting you brought up the two players from a same team thing Liam, because I thought the same thing (it would be easier for a who should I start tonight sort of thing), but I do think others are right that you'd be better off having two right handed pitching mashers and riding the hot bat if they both are going against righties or simply rotate one guy in over the other if one is going against a leftie. Like I said getting this information easy and quickly is a little more cumbersome. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Alfonso Soriano has had such a bad season that I hadn't really noticed how bad his splits were until today. He's actually hitting lefties. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Only going to see AB against LHP for at least a little while "to get him going." While he makes his $18M. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
