Don't understand how mccutchen is ranked like the 60th best player tomorrow. I like this site a lot but not sure how much I can rely on something that ranks guys with no pulse like soriano higher than cutch. Calhoun vs Chavez can't be a better play than cutch. Cutch hits near .500 off Edwin. hopefully someone can explain 0% Agree (1 vote) |
We'll take a look at him this morning. The hitter vs. pitcher matchup is display-only since there's typically not enough data to rely on to make a stat adjustment. Cutch is worse vs. righty pitchers in general, but I'll get back with more details. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
He loses most of his value in HR-Value (PIT park, Jackson better than avg for giving up HR, and R/R matchup). For FanDuel, he drops from 3.19 to 2.75 since HR's are valued so heavily. As mentioned, we don't adjust players based on H2H vs. pitchers since there's so little data available, but we do show it in case you want to use in your decision making. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Also soriano has only struggled vs righties he's been pretty solid vs left handed pitching 0% Agree (0 votes) |
And mccutchen has 23 at bats against Jackson that sample size has no bearing on how he should play against him 0% Agree (0 votes) |
One homerun thus far tonight... 0% Agree (1 vote) |
Easy Braves guy, you do realize it's projections for a reason right? Hopefully you went with your gut and played him anyway given he's a consensus top 10 player. Maybe the BBM guys should put a disclaimer on their website so it's clear that projections are not a guarantee of future success lol 0% Agree (0 votes) |
It wasn't for the season it was daily... and I'm not trying to be results oriented here because he's having a huge night. He won the MVP and half his games are at pnc park. He takes in June. I understand the value in the home run and the lark factor I just don't understand what list projects him 60th and there's only like ten games tonight. The system has to be flawed. It should matter that Edwin Jackson stinks even if not factoring in h2H. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Yes, there's likely room for improvement where a player has consistent batter vs. pitcher stats that contradict the normal adjustments. As mentioned, there's little data for most players, but for some, there's enough to make adjustments. I do mentally use the batter vs. pitcher often myself and should have gone with your advice on Cutch! 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Most pitchers are righty and cutch plays half his games at home I just can't comprehend ur justification of cutch not being a top 60 option ur points are valid and understand the drop in value but 60th is insane. It was near 70th before I removed the mariners game 0% Agree (2 votes) |
His FanDuel value dropped from 3.19 to 2.75 which isn't too dramatic. The players above him were seen to be better bets that night due to their good matchups. 100% Agree (1 vote) |
