Just traded my Greinke (5th round pick) for Javier Baez (18th round pick). 12 keepers, you lose the pick in the round that the keeper was drafted in. My team has no shot this year. League blew up and trade got vetoed. Was it really a ridiculous deal? UP: should have gone through DOWN: should have been vetoed 0% Agree (4 votes) |
Love Baez's upside, but that seems a pretty steep price to pay - especially given how Baez has struggled in AAA this year (and how good Greinke has looked). I don't think it's totally ridiculous, but I can certainly understand why other owners in your league protested. Greinke is older, sure, but he should be producing near this level for another 2-3 years. How long until Baez posts comparable value? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
I think trades should only be vetoed when collusion is obvious, so I wouldn't veto this trade. However, I would immediately pick up Kris Bryant and offer him to you for Darvish to take advantage of your generous nature. 0% Agree (2 votes) |
Fair enough. Thanks for the replies :) Guess I was putting too much stock into the Baseball Prospectus projections, which have him going for 30 HRs, 20 Steals, and 100 RBIs as soon as next year. BP seems to usually be on the pessimistic side, so I thought it was a good sign. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
That is one of the most absurd projections I have ever seen, not only do I not think he will do that next year but I highly doubt he does that ever. Plus how can they even project RBI for next year not knowing how much PT he is going to get and where he hits in the order? 100% Agree (3 votes) |
