Hey guys, drafting tomorrow in my points league.  Based on the projections there are 13 pitchers in the top 24.  I am picking 2nd out of 12 and plan on taking either Miggy, Braun, or Trout.  On the way back based on projections it looks like I should take the top 2 pitchers available.  With my league's settings, guys like Darvish, Shields, Gio, and Dickey are all projecting 2nd round value.  Am I reading this wrong though?  Due to the number of pitchers in the top of the rankings should I be more inclined to take hitters, or since it's a points league I just want as many points I can get regardless of position?

Some more info.. We start C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OF, U, 5 SP, 1 RP (must be a closer)

Yes, with points leagues you just want to score the most points possible, no matter how you go about doing it. But if all pitchers accumulate points at a high level, then it makes sense to address needs elsewhere first. As in, you wait where you can get the most points later and draft early where it's top-heavy.

I would focus on avoiding the negative points. I would punt SBs. That CS negative is brutal. I would not disqualify big HR hitters who K a lot. Because they pretty much all do it. Early on I would get Kimbrel or Chapman to be my one closer. Since u MUST start a closer u should make him a positive in the most stats. Some of those stats PG, NH, cycle are worthless. I would bump up SP who like to complete games. that extra 3 points is sweet. This is most definitely NOT a streaming format. u do not want bad starts from a pitcher or hitter. One last remark, I think Hit Batter should be a positive for a pitcher.

Thanks for the help guys.  I just went into the draft tracker and this is what I'm seeing for positional value.

Pos Adjust
C +82.55
1B -40.52
2B -5.17
SS +11.74
3B -13.96
OF -34.64
SP -59.42
RP +59.42

Seems like SP is actually the hardest to find, is that correct based on these values?

The positional values only compare positions of the same player type. So it's saying SP is harder to find than RP.

Would it make more sense to look at the Positional Value column compared to just Value then?  Obviously the numbers will be somewhat skewed as I am seeing Ortiz and V Mart as the top 2 because of their DH eligiblity, but would that be a better indicator of who to draft and when?
