I have a trade offer of my Scherzer for his R. Soriano and Axford.  Guy I'm trading with only has 3 closers and the rest of his pitchers are starters (I think I can get Putz instead of Axford).  Am I crazy to think I can get through the season winning ERA, WHIP, and Saves while punting wins and K's?  10 team league, standard scoring.

The general idea isn't crazy, but why is it even a consideration with those top three SP?

I agree.  It wasnt my strategy going into the draft but I got snaked on SP's all through the draft except for the 3 top guys I picked.  Even with those guys I'm weak in wins and strikeouts.  My initial plan after the draft was to add SP's during the season - I usually dont carry any hitters on the bench.  But looking at the offer I got today made me consider just loading up on relievers.  Those 3 eating up innings would offset any of my relievers getting blown up in a bad outing.  But yeah it does feel like I'm wasting quality starters.  Thats why I put it up on here.

MR are only so useful for h2h purposes. What are the best SP options on the wire currently?

Billingsley, Beckett, and Lohse are the best guys based on projections here.  I was looking at Fiers until he lost his rotation spot.  My initial plan was to wait and see who breaks out this season and make some FA pickups.  Roll with the MR guys early and then drop them for this seasons Medlen.

Yeah, I'd skip the punt strategy and look to bolster that staff. Unless you have confidence in your leaguemates being slow on the uptick and/or making poor add/drops, I would make those speculative adds now.

I'm at work now and have been commenting on this thread while looking at FA's since 10 this morning lol.  I'm usually quick on the waiver wire.  Although I did miss Estrada.  Do you like any of the FA's I mentioned?  Not really fired up about any of them.  I'm thinking about lottery tickets instead of older guys on the decline.

Beckett certainly could be solid. If you want to speculate on younger players, then do it thumbs up

Beachy is hard to stash with that July return date. And no IR yet. I would cut him and grab Lohse. Beckett is a nice risk also. if he bombs just cut him no harm no foul. Wily peralta is a guy i am targeting since he took Fiers starting job. Trading Scherzer for closers would have been awful.

I picked up Shelby Miller.  Beachy was a FA pickup I am going to try and hold until I need the DL slot.  He isnt counting against my active slots.  We have two DL slots and I still have an empty one.   I didnt like the idea of trading Scherzer so I'm going to build around my top guys as the season goes on.  Glad I posted on here, it gave me a chance to think about it.
