I've been negotiating for Trout (rd 18) in my 12 team keeper league (5x5 H2H). I had convinced myself it was worth parting with Harper (rd 18) + McCutchen (rd 1) for Trout and Hamilton (rd 1). When Harper hit the DL, that deal hit the skids. The other owner now wants Votto (rd 1) in place of McCutchen. This seems like too much to me (though so did the original scenario). I could ask for Posey in place of Hamilton, though I don't know if he would bite. (For what its worth the trade analysis tool seems to like this better).
The other team also has Puig and Profar that I could ask for, but I doubt he would be willing to part with two excellent keepers and I also don't want to go into rebuilding mode.
I'd like to keep my balance this year as I'm sitting in first place, but would love to add Trout to my team. If I parted with Votto I would consider trading my Strasburg (rd 19) for another teams Allen Craig (rd 23) to fill my void at first base.
Recap: as it stands the offer is Hamilton/Trout for Votto/Harper. (Neither Hamilton or Votto are worth keeping next year under my league's rules).

Instead of settling for "I don't know if.." and "I doubt he..." go find out for sure from the other guy Votto + Harper is massive, he had better be willing to negotiate.
0% Agree (0 votes) |
Haha. I agree he should be willing to negotiate. Basically, I can't decide what to counter with and want to find a sweet spot to compromise on. I'd like to make the deal and do not want to scare the other guy off; however, I'd like to squeeze him for all I can. If I give up Votto/Harper who do you think I should ask for in addition to Trout?
0% Agree (0 votes) |
Asking for Posey is completely reasonable to me, and that helps with the gap at 1B, as well. The worst-case (hopefully) is that he counters with that compromise you are comfortable with.
