H2H points, 10 teams.

I've stacked up ~23 starts (8 guys going yesterday and today, woot)... I'm just unsure about the offense for the week.

Should I drop a cold Markakis right now?

The weekly projections say that Crisp (will he play all week?), McCann (projected to play every game this week and a DH, won't happen), Beltran (also a DH bench candidate), Mercer, Napoli (sick and cold?) would be better options for this week, but I'm not completely enthralled with any of them.  I was considering Pearce or Ozuna (extremely hot).

Obviously all of this indecision has led to no move being made.  I already dropped Ackley for Walker (util spot) this morning so I don't have to worry about his ankle.  I think I should win this week regardless of my offense, but you can never be too careful.  The weekly projections only have me outscoring my opponent by 30, and I have a 30 point lead from Monday.

Of those offensive choices, Ozuna stands out for me over Markakis. As you point out, those others all have some red flags.

In doing a little more work on this, I notice that Ozuna is on the road all week and hitting .247/.292/.399 on the road this year... so he's out.

Going to look over Mercer and Pearce again.

Ended up picking up Mercer after Markakis went 0/4 on weds.  Paid off!

EDIT: I'm purposely not mentioning all of Ozuna's HR's.  Grumble :(

OK Finals week for me :)  Forgive me for the rambling I'm about to do, I juts want to say all of this out loud-ish.

Since I overshot on last weeks # of starters, I only ended up with Kennedy and Eovaldi as 2 start pitchers this week.

Top available options for the rest of this week "by projections" are

Morton (only projected 2 start SP left... playing with a hernia), Rasmus (not really interested in 4ip), Alvarez, Delgado, Nolasco, Wada, Chase Anderson, Garza

There are caveats to all of this... I can't really drop a pitcher until wednesday since I'll need Kennedy and Eovaldi again on Sunday... which basically rules out Alvarez/Delgado/Nolasco.  I doubt the difference between them and any other single start pitcher I already have would be that much.

If I want to add Morton for 2 potential starts I have to drop May (vs CLE) or Kuroda (vs TOR) before their start this week, so I would only actually be netting 1 hypothetical added start on Sunday vs the Brewers and the difference between the guy I drop and Morton vs BoSux.  I'm not convinced that's actually worth the trouble.

Now that I've typed that all out, I guess I should now shift my focus to a thursday-sunday starter on wednesday.

Morton vs MIL, Wada vs LAD, Anderson @ COL, Garza @ PIT, Lohse @ STL

?None of those options by themselves seem great... I might test Anderson @ COL (he only uses curve 20% so lack of break may not kill him?)  Do I drop May/Kuroda or another starter on my team to pick up Morton?

Am i just running myself in circles? :p  The guy I'm playing currently has 1 more scheduled start than I do, but still has all 4 of his moves available to him (i used 2 of mine on Eovaldi and Salazar already).

Halp.

This is H2H points.

4 points from a batter on the one off day Thursday is not going to outweigh the 10 points I can get from a mediocre start in this league. All I really need are IP and K's, ER's aren't really negative enough to matter.

I'm not sure Morton is worth the risk plus it would be nice to save those two transactions and use them later in the week for what you need.

I suppose the Morton risk is really the only decision I need to make today.  Otherwise I can't really even make a move until wednesday (for thursday).

I'm not missing any other possibilities for a 2SP other than Morton that aren't showing up in the projections right?  Wacha is gonna be shut down, and everyone else pitching today has an off day Thursday pushing their next start to Monday?

I also have not read about anyone pitching on short rest for the playoff run?

If you don't care about ERA/WHIP, then Morton would make sense. Obviously, his IP and K's are the best you're going to find with two starts.

Well Eovaldi did me no favors (0.33 points... lol) and I hesitated to make the move for Morton for his 30 point start... so I may have killed my chances already. I picked up Morton for Sunday, and after some more deliberation I decided to skip out on Wada/Garza/Lohse all playing good team and picked up Kendrick @ SD. Nothing to do now but cross some fingers.
