Lester is hurting me in my points league for a few weeks now (after doing well for me previously).  I don't like it as it's going to make it hard for me to win some tight matchup (8 team H2H points league).  I can drop him and harvest his slot for a streamer or top FA pitcher.  Streaming slot are valuable unless I keep him and drop another pitcher.  Alternatively I could add another hitter to swap out another struggling hitter that I don't want to drop (as hitters are more scarce in our league).

Is he tradable?  What could I get for him?  Not sure I can as the managers aren't trading yet and haven't responded to my fishing attempts previously.  With his performance lately, I wonder should just dump him until he gets his act together (and probably lose him to another team).  Any thoughts?

Top FA's: Pitchers (E. Jackson, T. Chatwood, Wheeler, Marcum, Niece, Oswalt, Morton, Buehrle, Hellickson, Straily, Gee, Phelps, Nicasio, Ogando, and Zito).  Hitters: Pedro Alverez, Quentin, Iglesia, Plouffe, Carp, Franklin, Moreland, S. Smith, Willingham, Moss, Morales, Werth, and Belt).

Hard to foresee much trade value when you are deliberating a straight drop in the first place, unless there is a BOS fan in your league. Wheeler could be interesting for points leagues. You've got all those custom projections in place - are they telling you to drop Lester or sit tight? It's a long season, winning now doesn't matter as much as winning when it really counts. (Of course, you do have to make the playoffs first.)

Thanks for the reply mbuser.  His season actual rank is 93 of 100 for the pitchers.  Looking at projections there are basically no pitchers above him available, however there are other pitchers available that have the same or slightly better actual average score/game.  For example Lester is only 1 projected point / game better than is Edwin Jackson.  While there aren't that may good pitchers at his level still out there there are about a half a dozen.  I figure these guys are going to be added or weekly streamed, but to win, I may have to move out Lester.  My goal for the regular season is seeding, as I'm leading my division 5-0 at this point but I'm playing the #2 guy who is only 1 game behind me.  I really want to beat him to hold on to secure my seeding.  If I loose to him it could end up forcing me to play the 6 seed in the first week of the playoffs, vs. having the bye.  So I don't know if a top 100 pitcher like Lester is worth holding for the long term when you can add an available set of pitchers with his slot, with my goals.

By the way, you have Wheeler as being a inferior pitcher to Lester by about 6 points / game.  Doesn't seem like he's a great add, though he is a 2 week pitcher this week (though Edwin Jackson is too).  If Cole was still available (after I streamed/dropped him), he would be a nice replacement based on his projections.

I dumped him but then he pitches a good game but then left with a pain in his hip.  He earned the drop and his slot is not producing much actually.  I did add Wheeler but he was not good.  Maybe I should add him back assuming he gets back on track?

I think it was Lester over performing early, but I do think you should nab him back if you can over Wheeler who should just be ok this season. Pedro Alvarez probably should be owned at this point as well, but you have to weigh who puts up the most value and if you can get them in your lineup. Points on the bench won't help.

Silentjim, you made a good argument to pick Lester back up.  I was going to re-add him considering his last outing was good, but he is gone, at least he was nabbed by a team that seems unlikely to make the playoffs at the current rate.   Dropped Wheeler as I suppose he may not be as good as we hoped yet.  Alverez was nabbed too.  I'm in total agreement that a slot that is not in play (points on the bench) will not help, however, batters are more scarce in my league (and pitchers are not scoring as well) so I may have to hold 1 or 2 bench slots for some valuable hitters.
