Offered Kemp/AGon/Price/Jansen for Cuddyer/Strasburg, worth taking?

The players I'm being offered wouldn't be worth keeping based on league rules -- all would be rentals. I'm in second place (back two games) and I'd like to win this year since it looks like I've a decent shot, at least at the regular season title.

I took Cuddyer in rd. 17 and have Strasburg in rd. 19, so both could be keepers for the other manager. I have been thinking about offering Strasburg for a rental on Braun and Verlander as well.

Basically, I think I need another piece or two to solidfy my roster and Strasburg is best keeper I'd be willing to dangle to do that.

You've got a heck of a roster otherwise, so it doesn't appear that you would be setting the future cause back much at all. I don't see how you don't do this one, maybe you pause if almost all of your best players are not keeper-eligible.

Thanks Matt (or Mbuser?). I should have clarified the league rules. Six total keepers. Each keeper moves up two rounds every year, undrafted players are 23rd round picks. Only one player can be kept in a first round slot, but you can keep the player in that slot as long as you like. I can only hold on to one of Votto, McCutchen and Kemp (assuming I make this trade). I still think I've got good enough depth without Strasburg, but I was concerned that I'd be paying a price that reflects their (Kemp, Price) past performance, not their current/projected value.

Ok, I do remember discussing this situation not that long ago. You've got six to choose from without a lot of difficulty. That is a huge haul, to me it's worth finding out.

Yes we did. Different trading partner, but nothing came about. Seems word spread through the league that Strasburg was available.

I promise this is my last question related to this trade. I have to offers waiting for me to hit accept on. Both involve me trading Strasburg and Medlen.

The return:

1) Braun/Kipnis/Verlander

2) AGon/Kemp/Price

Which should I take? (I have looked at this through the trade analysis function, I'm looking for some beyond-the-numbers advice.)

My thoughts:

1) Braun has the (possible) PED suspension looming -- I realize there is a lot of conflicting information floating around about this story, my biggest fear is he takes a plea. Not so concerned about his neck/thumb. Verlander has been quite un-Verlander like, which is to say he has been good but not been the beyond dominant pitcher of the previous few seasons. Kipnis looks awesome, but he fell off a cliff around this time last year.

2) A Gon is a different player than he was in San Diego (and the first year in Boston), but he would still be an extremly useful one; Kemp's injuries and high strikeouts are concerning; Price looks to have righted the ship since his return from the DL.

Trade one brings back flashier names, but is it the better trade to help me win? (My team has changed a little since the original post)

I would definitely be looking at that first deal. The combined ceiling there wins your league if it works out, no question. Kemp is the player I'm worried most about of the six. I don't see Braun getting a plea deal from MLB, let alone taking one. If he goes down, it almost certainly won't be decided until next season.

Phew, I dodged a bullet... ended taking the the AGon deal when the guy threw in a draft pick for next year. Not that a hurt Matt Kemp is much better than a suspended Ryan Braun.
