I'd be getting Goldschmidt. I can definitely use the big bat, no brainer? Thanks in advance for the advice. 12 Teams | 12 Hitters Per Team [5 Active = HR RBI SB R BA] | 7 Pitchers Per Team [5 Active = W SV ERA WHIP SO] 1 | 4 | 1.15 | McCutchen, Andrew | | PIT | OF | 159 | | 591 | 90 | 178 | 87 | 77 | 113 | 0.301 | 24 | 22 | 0.73 | 1.15 | 0.79 | 1.25 | 1.83 | 2 | 14 | 0.77 | Harper, Bryce | | WAS | OF | 143 | | 558 | 92 | 157 | 76 | 72 | 122 | 0.282 | 28 | 16 | 1.19 | 0.47 | 0.25 | 1.45 | 0.50 | 4 | 38 | 0.32 | Segura, Jean | | MIL | SS | 149 | | 614 | 79 | 173 | 57 | 34 | 90 | 0.281 | 12 | 39 | -0.83 | -0.71 | 2.21 | 0.46 | 0.48 | 4 | 46 | 0.24 | Heyward, Jason | | ATL | OF | 143 | | 579 | 92 | 155 | 61 | 71 | 124 | 0.267 | 25 | 12 | 0.80 | -0.44 | -0.07 | 1.42 | -0.49 | 5 | 50 | 0.19 | Carpenter, Matt | | STL | 2B/3B | 154 | | 633 | 94 | 187 | 61 | 75 | 107 | 0.296 | 11 | 3 | -0.95 | -0.49 | -0.80 | 1.61 | 1.59 | 7 | 75 | -0.14 | Martinez, Victor | | DET | 1B | 139 | | 520 | 63 | 152 | 81 | 45 | 49 | 0.292 | 13 | 1 | -0.71 | 0.76 | -0.99 | -0.84 | 1.07 | 9 | 101 | -0.35 | Dozier, Brian | | MIN | 2B | 146 | | 607 | 83 | 153 | 53 | 50 | 124 | 0.252 | 17 | 14 | -0.12 | -0.96 | 0.15 | 0.77 | -1.56 | 9 | 104 | -0.36 | Brantley, Michael | | CLE | OF | 146 | | 526 | 60 | 148 | 67 | 43 | 61 | 0.282 | 9 | 15 | -1.26 | -0.10 | 0.17 | -1.07 | 0.47 | 9 | 108 | -0.40 | Yelich, Christian | | MIA | OF | 146 | | 567 | 78 | 147 | 52 | 59 | 151 | 0.259 | 13 | 18 | -0.72 | -1.03 | 0.46 | 0.32 | -1.00 | 10 | 114 | -0.44 | Seager, Kyle | | SEA | 3B | 152 | | 514 | 65 | 135 | 61 | 50 | 98 | 0.263 | 18 | 8 | -0.09 | -0.44 | -0.37 | -0.63 | -0.67 | 12 | 140 | -0.68 | Castro, Jason | | HOU | C | 122 | | 451 | 60 | 118 | 62 | 52 | 123 | 0.262 | 15 | 1 | -0.37 | -0.40 | -0.96 | -1.05 | -0.64 | 13 | 148 | -0.82 | Morse, Michael | | SF | 1B/OF | 122 | | 409 | 46 | 109 | 59 | 27 | 100 | 0.265 | 18 | 1 | 0.01 | -0.55 | -0.99 | -2.11 | -0.44 | 15 | 180 | -1.06 | Springer, George | | HOU | OF | 89 | | 308 | 41 | 76 | 41 | 35 | 103 | 0.248 | 15 | 16 | -0.45 | -1.69 | 0.24 | -2.49 | -0.94 | 27 | 320 | -2.04 | Baez, Javier | | CHC | SS | 37 | | 136 | 16 | 33 | 19 | 6 | 43 | 0.244 | 8 | 2 | -1.32 | -3.07 | -0.86 | -4.46 | -0.48 | |

I think I'd do it. It would leave your pitching staff a little bare, SP at least, though that's eased by having Kimbrel and Jansen. And you'd have a downgrade at 2B, but Goldschmidt is def an offensive force -- and Carpenter's value is not that great on a per game basis. Not totally sure to be honest though. I think you'd want to make another trade or two following if you do it, try to find an upgrade on porcello/kluber and look for another 2B, undervalued guy like Hill maybe. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Roto or h2h? Are there reasonably good SP options for streaming on the wire? I like your getting the big bat, but then you potentially look to move VMart for a 2B? Any teams with obvious surplus at the position? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Its a h2h league. There are definitely decent match up plays and young arms with "upside" on the wire, though no one fantastic. Second base is a different story. There doesn't appear to be anyone with a true surplus at the position, aside from a team with Gyrko and Prado. If I weren't to make a second move that would leave me with Martinez in the IF spot and Dozier as my primary 2B, not awful but... less than ideal. On the other hand, I think I need to make a move for a power bat at some point to stay competitive in RBI and home runs. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Maybe you can expand to a 2-for-2 where the other player is of some use to you. Even if it's the player the other manager was simply planning to drop. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
I'm going to see if I can squeeze Calhoun into the deal. Even though this manager drafted him, I don't expect him to be as high on him as BBM is. Not a exactly a position of need for me, but perhaps a good chip to move later on (or to replace someone I move later on). Hopefully it works. 100% Agree (1 vote) |
