6 keeper league, 12 team h2h 5x5. I'm targeting Encarnacion and Freeman (on different teams). I don't consider everyone involved keepers, but I'm putting including their round value anyway. The plan is to propose both and hope one is accepted, but I wanted to get the boards thoughts first. Offer I: Kimbrel (7) + Dozier (18) + J. Castro (garbage) for Y. Molina (6) + Encarnacion (10) Offer II: Kimbrel (7) + Dozier (18) for Freeman (15) I know projections love Kimbrel, but I think I can spare him given my roster. I would put Samardjzia (10) in the second offer, but I am afraid it might be too much of a low-ball. Thoughts on either? 12 Teams | 12 Hitters Per Team [5 Active = HR RBI SB R BA] | 7 Pitchers Per Team [5 Active = W SV ERA WHIP SO] 1 | 3 | 1.35 | McCutchen, Andrew | | PIT | OF | 125 | | 463 | 73 | 145 | 72 | 62 | 85 | 0.313 | 19 | 18 | 0.84 | 1.47 | 0.76 | 1.39 | 2.30 | 3 | 28 | 0.46 | Carpenter, Matt | | STL | 2B/3B | 121 | | 497 | 84 | 152 | 50 | 60 | 88 | 0.306 | 8 | 3 | -0.99 | -0.34 | -0.71 | 2.37 | 1.99 | 4 | 46 | 0.21 | Heyward, Jason | | ATL | OF | 114 | | 459 | 78 | 119 | 48 | 57 | 99 | 0.259 | 19 | 9 | 0.78 | -0.49 | -0.08 | 1.90 | -1.07 | 5 | 52 | 0.17 | Martinez, Victor | | DET | 1B | 114 | | 427 | 53 | 128 | 69 | 37 | 38 | 0.300 | 11 | 1 | -0.50 | 1.23 | -0.90 | -0.36 | 1.39 | 6 | 62 | -0.04 | Brantley, Michael | | CLE | OF | 121 | | 433 | 51 | 122 | 56 | 35 | 43 | 0.281 | 9 | 17 | -0.82 | 0.18 | 0.66 | -0.50 | 0.29 | 6 | 66 | -0.06 | Segura, Jean | | MIL | SS | 117 | | 466 | 56 | 127 | 43 | 25 | 69 | 0.273 | 8 | 28 | -0.98 | -0.89 | 1.81 | -0.07 | -0.20 | 6 | 71 | -0.15 | Seager, Kyle | | SEA | 3B | 120 | | 418 | 54 | 109 | 55 | 43 | 83 | 0.262 | 18 | 7 | 0.54 | 0.10 | -0.30 | -0.28 | -0.80 | 7 | 81 | -0.21 | Dozier, Brian | | MIN | 2B | 116 | | 480 | 65 | 118 | 41 | 43 | 102 | 0.246 | 14 | 21 | 0.04 | -1.01 | 1.14 | 0.74 | -1.97 | 8 | 85 | -0.22 | Yelich, Christian | | MIA | OF | 114 | | 442 | 63 | 118 | 41 | 53 | 120 | 0.267 | 10 | 17 | -0.72 | -1.03 | 0.67 | 0.51 | -0.55 | 8 | 96 | -0.33 | Aoki, Norichika | | KC | OF | 111 | | 459 | 63 | 130 | 35 | 43 | 39 | 0.283 | 5 | 15 | -1.57 | -1.49 | 0.48 | 0.51 | 0.40 | 11 | 123 | -0.49 | Castro, Jason | | HOU | C | 102 | | 377 | 51 | 99 | 52 | 45 | 105 | 0.263 | 13 | 1 | -0.16 | -0.15 | -0.89 | -0.57 | -0.70 | 12 | 139 | -0.62 | Springer, George | | HOU | OF | 114 | | 378 | 48 | 89 | 41 | 42 | 128 | 0.236 | 15 | 16 | 0.13 | -1.00 | 0.64 | -0.82 | -2.07 | 16 | 187 | -1.04 | Harper, Bryce | | WAS | OF | 59 | | 204 | 30 | 57 | 34 | 26 | 46 | 0.279 | 10 | 5 | -0.75 | -1.62 | -0.45 | -2.44 | 0.08 | 26 | 308 | -1.92 | Baez, Javier | | CHC | SS | 30 | | 109 | 13 | 27 | 15 | 5 | 34 | 0.244 | 7 | 2 | -1.29 | -3.09 | -0.80 | -3.95 | -0.48 | |

Both look helpful for your team, but would they accept those offers? I imagine Encarnacion and Feeman were selected before Kimbrel so it hinges in the perceived value of Dozier. 0% Agree (0 votes) |

I really don't think so, though Kimbrel, Encarnacion and Freeman were all carried over as keepers. I find it quite difficult to come up with trades that pass the eye test and comport with baseballmonster projected rankings. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Determining the relative value between hitters and pitchers is the issue since hitters or pitchers can be inflated based on the categories selected. We are going to work on a method to better compare the player types, but for now, looking at expected ADP is the best way to see how your league values players. In your case, I would expect Kimbrel to be a 4th-5th round player while the top 1B go 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Please don't read my statement as a knock on the site in any way; in my opinion, baseball (and basketball) monster are by far the best resources around for fantasy sports. That said, I'm excited to see what you guys come up with to compare players. Also, you're quite right as far as where the players would have gone in a redraft. I simply find it hard to offer a player like Kimbrel knowing his perceived value is that of a guy in the 4th-5th round, while also being aware (thanks to BBM) he is providing my team 2nd round value. (Hopefully that explanation makes sense.) Confusing sentences aside, I am going to propose both deals with Samardzija included. I'm actually very optimistic about Dozier going forward, and perhaps I can convince the other managers to share my opinion. I think his skill set makes him a poor man's Kinsler of yesteryear; obviously a bit different K/BB profile, but similar speed/power potential at 2B. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
If you can find an owner who's desperate for saves, you may be able to pull it off. Good luck. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
