Have a 12 team Roto keeper draft coming up this weekend. Standard 5x5, except QS instead of Wins. It's a keeper league, so I have the following guys on my squad in their respective draft slots: - Victor Martinez - 15th round
- Anthony Rendon - 23rd round
- Mark Melancon - 24th round
- Joc Pederson - 25th round
Keepers can be kept for 3 years and move up 2 spots per year. All 4 players are in their 1st year as keepers. The issue I'm facing is that we also allow draft pick trades and I traded my 1st, 3rd, and 10th round picks in this draft in order to win the title last year. Considering that I'm at a big disadvantage in draft picks, I'm trying to look at different approaches at the draft that may set me apart. The main one is going zero SP and exploiting our innings limit (1400 IP). Our pitching rosters are 2 SP/2 RP/4 P with a 5 player bench. My current thinking is that I'll ignore pitching entirely until my lineup is completely filled. That would take me to round 11 or 12, depending if I want to start the season with Joc as a starter. After that, I would focus on high innings and K RP like Boxberger, Petit, etc. Later, I can just grab a few SP that will log a ton of innings with decent ratios. I'd be punting QSs and probably wouldn't be better than middle of the pack in Ks, but I could be very competitive in SV/ERA/WHIP. I think this is my best chance at being competitive. Any other suggestions? Maybe I should also punt a hitting category? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
