Would I be crazy to move Gordon and one of Hamels/Shields/Cain for Ellsbury?  The guy is stealing a base a day at this point.  I am currently 10/12 and 30 behind the leader.  The seems like a big time overpay, but he'd really help me out.  The other option is to drop someone like Willingham for Pierre.  I assume that would be the preferred choice right?

I hate trading for steals or saves. 1 category guys just are never worth it. That said Ellsbury is a great trade target in any format. Run it by the Ellsbury owner. I would not go higher in any event. Pierre, leonys, Revere. Ichiro are all decent options u can stream versus weak catchers.

Yes, that's an overpay. Ellsbury has a terrible OPS, I would be attempting to use that to your advantage in trade discussions. Lots of runs and steals, sure, but what else is there?

Doesn't seem like Ellsbury is available at all now.  He also has Mclouth who appears to be available and Pierre is still on the wire.  Thinking of dropping Wilhelmson for Pierre or making an offer for Mclouth.  Any thoughts there?

Past 28 games for McLouth: .681 OPS, 1 HR, 3 RBI. Pierre on the season: .620 OPS, 1 HR, 6 RBI. These are guys that will drag you down elsewhere while helping your SB, just keep that in mind. I realize that Wilhelmsen isn't much more than a single-cat guy himself, but I've got more faith in him getting the closing gig back than a guy like Pierre staying particularly useful. As for McLouth, the steals are still coming...

So should I just hope my guys start stealing more and stay put?  It's the only category I'm significantly behind in.

Obviously it's hard to win a roto league when you are particularly deficient in one particular category, but just be aware of the potential losses to other categories that can be self-inflicted by chasing steals. From your original post: Willingham hasn't been very good, that would be preferable to dropping Wilhelmson for me.

I think your guys will start stealing bases and perform to projection, but that's not much consolation until they do.  My thought - try to make a couple moves that each help add steals, no need to fix it in one fell swoop unless the price is right.

it's a hard category to address because many guys who steal bases either hurt you in other categories (like Pierre) or are way overvalued (Bourn, mccutchen, wright).  Crisp, aoki (who you already have) and others can be undervalued, and look for emerging rookies who hit both hr and steal bases... Puig, who you grabbed, has been ridiculous but the speed has always been there.  Ellsbury and even better Mike Trout would be my big trade candidates.

EY has a new team now. Maybe give him a spin.

Leaning towards Shields/Hamels and Heyward for Wright offer, although Heyward has the potential to steal more than Wright does.  Obviously they're way off right now though.
