Hey guys I'm about to draft tonight for a 12 team H2h. Settings are 6x6...runs/hr/rbi/stl's/BA/OBP and Innings pitch/era/whip/saves/strike outs and quality starts. I'm thinking about punting saves and just loading up on quality starters. This way I would have an advantage in the 3 cummulative pitcher stats (Innings pitched/Strike outs/Quality starts) and still have a chance in Era/whip cause i'll have more solid starters than most teams. Has anyone else tried this strategy? Any suggestions...I'm picking 5th out of 12.

I've never punted saves, but I have nearly always left saves til the last few rounds.  Get whatever's left, and plan to hit the waiver wire hard for the closers that emerge during the season.

This said (and I just reread your post), given that innings pitched is a category, which is definitely unusual, a save punt would make sense.  Pick them up during the season if you have a roster spot as trade fodder or to possibly reverse the punt.

So we just actually changed the innings pitched to wins. So wins and QS's make up 33% of the pitching cats.

W instead of IP tips the scale back a bit from SP, but I still think that loading up on offense and SP and letting everyone else worry about drafting CL is preferred. As liam4 said, get cheap SV and/or make sure you are a hawk on the wire.

Punting saves actually helps 4 cats. K's and wins are obvious but it helps ERA and WHIp also (as long as u don't stream awful pitchers). The reason is the huge IP advantage averages out bad performances. If u have 3 closers and 5 starters u may get 55 IP a week. Any bad performance will drop u. While 11 SP with Cingrani and Cashner types as ur RP will pull 95 IP a week. Here is my punt SV BBM HTH1 team. Chapman as my only RP is hurt but I can stream any SP as soon as he ever gets a DL tag.

12 Teams | 13 Hitters Per Team [5 Active = HR RBI SB R BA] | 9 Pitchers Per Team [5 Active = W SV ERA WHIP SO]
