6 keepers, 12 team h2h, standard 5x5 scoring Thought I'd see if I could buy snag Taveras by proposing Castro/Seager/Wood for Perez/Taveras and received the counter in the topic line. I realize this would be an easy reject in a redraft league, but with the keeper values (below in parenthesis), do you think I should pull the trigger or counter with something else (Heyward instead of Yelich?)? I don't think any of the players I'd part with would be in my 6 keepers for next year. My team is in 8th place right now, so I'm exploring options to improve for the next 6 weeks or so; if I don't start to gain ground I might try to sell off my non-keeper assets. Castro (rd 17); Seager (rd 8); Yelich (rd 12); Wood (rd 13) For Perez (rd 17); Taveras (rd 22); Smyly (rd 19) I would replace Seager by moving Carpenter over and taking Eaton off the DL or alternatively picking up Matt Dominguez, JJ Hardy, Infante or LaRoche (best projected FA options). I like Yelich quite a bit, but it seems like he has less upside than Taveras and would have to be kept way earlier. That looks good if you're planning for next season. Of the three, the only one you would keep is Taveras? We like Yelich too, but in the 12th round, that's not quite the deal as Taveras in the 22nd. As far as Heyward instead of Yelich, that looks good if you do want to keep Yelich next season since I assume Heyward is not worth keeping. I'm guessing the other team is looking to win this season? 0% Agree (0 votes) |
The other guy felt Taveras was worth more than the Castro/Seager/Wood combo, so he countered by adding Yelich. based on my roster I don't know who else to substitute. I thought Heyward because he seems absolutely lost (to me), even though projections have faith he will turn it around (his line drive rate is down and the HR/FB% is way down)--maybe he just ain't as good as advertised? I think the other team is looking to win this season, or at least get out of the cellar. They are actually lower in the standings than I am; their attempt to rebuild last year hasn't worked out so far, but they don't want to have another losing season. Right now I'm on the fence about doing a full rebuild. I think I can make the playoffs this season, but I don't think I'll have a shot at advancing in them. If I can improve my long term outlook and tread water I'll be happy. I seem to have been quicker to the wire than most, so I feel like i have a decent shot of finding a hot bat to fill in for Seager (who hasn't exactly lit the world on fire). I really like Yelich and would like to keep him out of the trade if possible (picks move up two rounds, so I'm not sure if his value will exceed other available options in the 10th round next year). It's always possible Perez and Smyly will perform well enough to consider keeping, but right now I don't view them as in the top six potential keepers. (Obviously I'm a sucker for potential.) EDIT: thanks for bearing with the lengthy explanation. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
