My team ain't great, but it ain't bad either (relative to the league). I'm sitting in 4th place out of 12, with a probable ceiling of 3rd (the two top teams seem to be out of reach). I've had some recent injury issues that have derailed my progress. Do I trade some potential future assets for a chance to win now, or do I hang on and compete with what I've got.

League details: h2h, 12 teams, 6 keepers, 5x5 scoring (4th year of operation).

My roster (w/ next years round values, players jump two spots year to year):

C - Travis D'Arnaud (rd 22)

1B - Freddy Freeman (rd 13)

2B - A. Alcantara (rd 22)

SS - Jean Segura (rd 20)

3B - Anthony Rendon (rd 22)

IF - Victor Martinez (rd 7)

OF - McCutchen (rd 1), Hewyard (rd 2), Brantley (rd 12), Harper (rd 14)

UTL - J.D. Martinez (rd 22), Javier Baez (rd 21)

DL - Encarnacion (rd 8), Springer (rd 22)

SP - Hernandez (rd 1), Grienke (rd 1),  Kluber (rd 13), Smyly (rd 17), Keuchel (rd 22), Duffy (rd 22)

P - Robertson (rd 4), Feliz (rd 14), Doolittle (rd 22), Allen (rd 22), Melancon (rd 22)

My plan is to keep Freeman, Rendon, Harper, Springer and Baez (but this is fluid). The last spot would be up for grabs between McCutchen, Encarnacion, Kluber, Brantley, Segura and Doolittle.

I'm considering dangling J.D. Martinez (possibly some keeper value) + a closer to improve my catcher spot (traded for, then lost Yadi).

There are good players with little carry-over value I can target if I go all in. Guys like Altuve, Ellsbury, Price, Carlos Gomez, Scherzer, Castro, Longo.

There are also great keepers I can try to move for if I decide to...stay the course. Goldy, Donaldson, Machado, Puig, Cole.

Good Sirs, what should I do?

Are the top two teams out of reach or are they not? Posting the actual standings would help.

If it's H2H, there is no such thing as "out of reach", especially in 4th place!

Make the playoffs, get lucky.

I'm 11 games out of second, 16 out of first place.

BBM projected standings look rosy, but I've just lost McCutchen for a good length of time.

Payout is 1/2 to regular season best record, 1/2 to playoff winner.

Also, early thoughts on keepers will be quite appreciated.

Okay, I glossed over that it's h2h. Why are you posting roto standings if it's h2h? You aren't going to move into first with Cutch out for a month, that's for sure. But agreed with descender - just get to the playoffs and anything can happen, that's always the goal in h2h. That looks like a good squad, assuming you have Springer, Encarnacion, Cutch back in time for the playoffs. Stream some SP based on matchups and add a hot bat or two, and you have as good of a chance as any.

Freeman, Rendon, Harper, Baez, Springer, Kluber looks like a good keeper group to me.

Thanks to both of you. Had a brainfart with the picture of roto standings.

So, yeah, you get your guys back and you give it your best shot. I can't tell you how many times the top team in my h2h leagues has steamrolled through the regular season and then lost in their first playoff matchup. That's the "beauty" of h2h frog

Forgot to include Tavares (rd 22) as a keeper consideration. Would you knock any of players you mentioned earlier out of the conversation (Freeman, Rendon, Harper, Baez, Springer, Kluber)?

I still like Freeman, but he didn't quite take the expected step forward this season (although he's still only 24) and I would think Taveras would have more "market" value at that round discount.
