Hi there I was just offered Chris Sale for Joey Gallo and wanted to see what people thought of this trade offer. I just joined a keeper league this year (5x5 format, with 14 keepers each year) so was starting from scratch and decided to build my team with a focus on youth/potential. My team is below. I'm trying to balance out Gallo's future as a cornerstone slugger vs what Sale offers right now...and also how fragile pitchers seem these days with TJ surgery! Thanks for your advice Ryan 12 Teams | 13 Hitters Per Team [5 Active = HR RBI SB R BA] | 9 Pitchers Per Team [5 Active = W SV ERA WHIP SO] 2 | 16 | 0.84 | Frazier, Todd | | CIN | 3B | 63 | | 248 | 36 | 70 | 34 | 20 | 52 | 0.283 | 12 | 5 | 1.62 | 0.91 | 0.02 | 1.30 | 0.35 | 3 | 34 | 0.31 | Seager, Kyle | | SEA | 3B | 64 | | 228 | 30 | 62 | 36 | 22 | 49 | 0.273 | 9 | 3 | 0.74 | 1.20 | -0.34 | 0.16 | -0.22 | 4 | 39 | 0.20 | Moss, Brandon | | OAK | 1B/OF | 55 | | 195 | 29 | 52 | 32 | 22 | 53 | 0.267 | 12 | 1 | 1.62 | 0.59 | -0.76 | 0.06 | -0.51 | 4 | 47 | 0.12 | Yelich, Christian | | MIA | OF | 60 | | 234 | 36 | 63 | 22 | 31 | 57 | 0.271 | 6 | 10 | -0.38 | -0.82 | 0.90 | 1.24 | -0.34 | 6 | 62 | 0.02 | Walker, Neil | | PIT | 2B | 62 | | 224 | 27 | 61 | 34 | 20 | 34 | 0.272 | 9 | 1 | 0.62 | 0.85 | -0.82 | -0.27 | -0.27 | 7 | 75 | -0.04 | Santana, Carlos | | CLE | C/1B | 63 | | 213 | 33 | 53 | 30 | 39 | 49 | 0.250 | 10 | 2 | 0.86 | 0.30 | -0.65 | 0.74 | -1.43 | 8 | 85 | -0.11 | Ozuna, Marcell | | MIA | OF | 63 | | 218 | 26 | 59 | 31 | 16 | 65 | 0.270 | 9 | 2 | 0.47 | 0.42 | -0.62 | -0.46 | -0.37 | 8 | 93 | -0.16 | Belt, Brandon | | SF | 1B | 59 | | 199 | 25 | 56 | 29 | 21 | 50 | 0.280 | 7 | 3 | -0.07 | 0.22 | -0.47 | -0.64 | 0.16 | 9 | 105 | -0.31 | Martin, Leonys | | TEX | OF | 62 | | 221 | 21 | 58 | 25 | 15 | 49 | 0.264 | 4 | 14 | -0.94 | -0.36 | 1.77 | -1.27 | -0.74 | 13 | 147 | -0.65 | Jennings, Desmond | | TB | OF | 59 | | 205 | 25 | 51 | 22 | 24 | 47 | 0.247 | 5 | 8 | -0.60 | -0.91 | 0.50 | -0.70 | -1.53 | 13 | 153 | -0.68 | Wong, Kolten | | STL | 2B | 53 | | 204 | 22 | 53 | 19 | 14 | 30 | 0.259 | 3 | 11 | -1.24 | -1.31 | 1.16 | -1.12 | -0.91 | 18 | 207 | -1.16 | Pollock, AJ | | ARI | OF | 35 | | 125 | 15 | 35 | 14 | 10 | 23 | 0.279 | 3 | 4 | -1.36 | -2.05 | -0.10 | -2.35 | 0.07 | 19 | 225 | -1.29 | Betts, Mookie | | BOS | SS | 30 | | 106 | 12 | 29 | 13 | 11 | 13 | 0.271 | 2 | 6 | -1.53 | -2.15 | 0.22 | -2.83 | -0.15 | |

H2H or roto? And am I reading it right that this team was handed off to you, and your first draft pick would have been a 15th-round pick? Don't forget that Sale is only 25 years old himself, so he's a cornerstone SP for years to come. The fact that Gallo only has 100ish AB above Single-A means he's still no sure thing, and 2016 is also likely to be his first shot at season-long playing time at the major-league level even if he keeps mashing. This is also a standard league, and he doesn't (yet) project to hit for much of an average, although the power is a "given." 100% Agree (1 vote) |
Hi Matt, Thanks for the quick post. Its a H2H league. The team wasn't handed off to me - my team was one of 2 new expansion teams this year. My team and the other new team had an expansion draft (10 players each) before the regular draft. Good points about C.Sale - was just reading about his injury risk concerns but he's been durable so far in his career and it seems like the White Sox have a good track records with pitchers. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
People love Gallo for his 80 power but this sounds like a great sell high opportunity after winning MVP. Sale has been a top pitcher for a couple years and even if he does succumb to injury, he's probably not dropping outside of the top 168 players on his bounce back year. Unless the league doesn't have a DL slot or some other funny rules, this seems like a no brainer! 0% Agree (0 votes) |
Thanks Vastfan. Yeah I agree this is a great sell high opportunity just pulled the trigger on the trade 0% Agree (0 votes) |
